With 3.f3 White builds a big centre but weakens the e1-h4 diagonal and the dark squares. Answer with the solid 3…e6, then pin with …Bb4 against Nc3, and hit b2 with …Qb6 when White's c1-bishop goes to e3. Follow up with …c5 to attack d4.
