Main line: 4.d4 Nf6 5.Nf3 c6

The most common path at club level. Against every sixth move you play the same way: bishop to f5 first, then …e6, …Nbd7, a bishop to b4, d6 or e7, and castle. Learn the two White tricks in this chapter - Bd2 with Nd5, and Ne5 with g4 - and the rest follows naturally.
